DJ Dar-Cee's Radio Work

DJ Dar-Cee began his radio work in 2003 when he joined an Edinburgh Student Radio Station - Fresh Air.

Fresh Air initially ran for 1 month per year on a Restricted Service License (RSL) which allowed them to broadcast on FM all over Edinburgh and the surrounding areas - as much as a 30 mile radius - so DJ Dar-Cee the radio jock was born!!

In 2005, Fresh Air started broadcasting simultaneously on both FM and online - this is when DJ Dar-Cee's internet radio broadcasting started!

The shows that DJ Dar-Cee hosted and produced on Fresh Air included a dance music show and a hardcore music show, both of which had weekly time slots around midnight on a Thursday night, a night dedicated to club music shows.

As Fresh Air only broadcasted for a maximum of 2 months per year, Dar-Cee extended his radio broadcasting to a number of other online radio stations in 2006, hosting trance, dance and hardcore shows as frequently as 3 to 4 times per week!

2007 saw Dar-Cee leave Fresh Air and take a step up to a Community FM and Online radio station in Edinburgh - Leith FM - which has a permanent radio license which allowed it to broadcast 24 hours a day, every day to a listener base of 200,000!

Dance Selecta was created as a weekly dance music show which began broadcasting weekly on Leith FM in November 2007, and ran continuously until November 2008. The show had a primetime slot on a Saturday evening (5-7pm), and featured the best in dance music from the past, present and the future! Dar-Cee featured fresh tunes from music producers, both new and experienced, as well as the classics! Listeners were able to get requests and shout outs via communication by email and text message. DJ mixes were also showcased by Dar-Cee, as well as his on mixes which were both studio recorded and recorded live at events he had played at.
